Farside Metzger
A metzger is a maneuver to counter an upper body attack.
In this example the wrestler in red begins to attack, using a bodylock.
The wrestler in blue uses a metzger to counterattack.
While fighting for balance the blue wrestler reaches around the head of his opponent with his left hand (hidden from view).
He then reaches down to the leg of the opponent, lifting inside of the opponent's thigh.
Here you can see the wrap around the opponent's head. The metzger is thrown by pulling at the head and lifting at the leg.
Notice that the wrestler in blue has stepped around the defender with his left leg, blocking the red wrestler's ability to correct his balance.
He continues to pull down on the head while lifting at the leg, he uses a twisting motion in his upper body.
The block at the knee, pull of the head, and lift of the leg off-balances the opponent.
In freestyle this maneuver can result in a three point throw
Regardless of amplitude a "metzger" is effective at countering upper-body attacks.
